BIOGRAPHY

Dani Selyebi, graphic designer and abstract painter, was born in 1995 in Budapest.

Between 2016 and 2018, he studied graphic design, where he developed an early interest in illustration and gesture-based painting.

Following his studies, he continued to develop his artistic practice in painting and drawing in a self-taught manner, guided by an experimental and intuitive approach.

From 2021, he worked as a freelance artist on various commissions, creating ink drawings and paintings in his distinctive figurative
abstract style.

During this period, his practice expanded to include book and poetry illustrations, most notably the cover design and illustrations for a 2022 poetry volume by Imre Lutter.

In 2022, he participated in the three-week Budapest Hybridcycle residency program, where the works created were subsequently exhibited in several group exhibitions across Hungary.

In the same year, he took part in multiple nature-themed group exhibitions organized
by the Hybridart pop-up gallery, and held his first solo exhibition, Balance, at Easy Art Space in Budapest.

In 2023, his artistic focus shifted direction, moving away from applied illustration
toward painting as his primary medium.

He began experimenting with increasingly large-scale canvases and has since been
continuously developing his painting portfolio.

In 2025, he held his second solo exhibition, Primal Trust, at the Hegyvidék Cultural Salon
in Budapest.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Dani Selyebi, graphic artist and painter, creates works that reflect a deep respect for nature and the quiet presence
experienced within it.

The measured yet effortless rhythm of his lines and marks captures the dynamism of the present moment, echoing the instinctive movements found in the natural world.

He places every detail with intention, guiding the viewer’s gaze through a continuous sense of flow, while playing along the edges of abstraction with his figures.

He draws inspiration from the balance perceived in nature,
especially within the animal world, which embodies the continuous motion of natural cycles.

Animals appear as perfect channels of flow, existing in a state of instinctive or primal trust.

This feeling can be accessed,
to some extent, through clearing the mind and practicing mindful presence — a discipline that has become more important to him than any philosophy.

With each brushstroke, he seeks to experience and convey the purity and simplicity rooted in the present moment,
while cultivating this state
within his own artistic practice.
